Carl Hansen & Søn

Carl Hansen & Søn has existed since 1908, founded as a small joinery in Odense. The collaboration with Hans J. Wegner from 1949 produced the Wishbone Chair, a chair that has now been in uninterrupted production for more than seventy years.

Besides Wegner, Carl Hansen & Søn also produces designs by Kaare Klint, Arne Jacobsen, Børge Mogensen and Tadao Ando. Every piece is hand-finished, from steam-bending the wood to weaving the paper cord seat, with attention to the craft that has formed the core of the company for more than a hundred years.
